This is Not Flu, This is Plague, Says Donald Trump Ahead of Two ‘Very Painful’ Weeks | Earth Indian

New Delhi: Emphasising that the United States is doing more than any other country to combat COVID-19, US President Donald Trump has warned of a “very painful” two weeks.

“This is going to be a very painful, a very, very painful two weeks,” Trump told a press conference at the White House.

Trump described the pandemic as “a plague.” “I want every American to be prepared for the hard days that lie ahead,” he said.

“This is not flu. I have had friends who were alright just the other day and when I call them to ask how they are doing, they are in a coma,” the President said. On the shortage of masks, he said, “We are producing an enormous number of masks. But you can use scarves as well, instead of getting out and buying masks.”

Trump also extended the administration’s social-distancing guidelines for another 30 days until the end of April. The task force has projected 100,000 to 240,000 deaths from the virus. The death toll in the US grew by more than 800 on Tuesday, surpassing 3,700. Confirmed cases worldwide are more than 800,000.
