Strange Request! People Under Home Quarantine in Karnataka Told to Send a Selfie to Govt Every Hour | Earth Indian
Bengaluru: Taking strict measures to ensure people stay at home, Karnataka Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar on Monday said all the people who are home quarantined in the state will have to click their selfies and send them to the government every one hour.
Failing to do so, such people will be shifted to the state quarantine centres and action will also be taken if wrong photos are sent.
“All persons under home quarantine shall send their selfies to the government on a mobile application in every one hour. Failing to do so, teams will reach such defaulters and they will be liable to be shifted to quarantine centres made by the government,” he said.

The state government has designed the app for taking selfie and it can be downloaded from Google Play. The selfie or photo will have GPS coordinates so the location of the sender would be known, the minister warned.
However, they will be given an exception for taking selfies during the sleeping time from 10 pm to 7 am. Here is the press release:

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka climbed to 88 on Monday after five more persons tested positive for coronavirus. The country is currently under a 21-day lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, which according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has infected 1,251 people so far.
Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Monday said ending of the 21-day lockdown depends on how strictly the ‘janata curfrew’ is followed, even as he urged the people to follow it and maintain social distancing, as per a PTI report.
