Musician John Prine is battling coronavirus and is critical. The 73-year-old singer developed COVID-19 symptoms and got admitted to the hospital on Thursday and was put on a ventilator on Saturday night. The news of his critical illness spread on social media after a family statement from his official Twitter handle was put out asking for more support and love for the musician.

The statement read, “This is hard news for us to share. But so many of you have loved and supported John over the years, we wanted to let you know, and give you the chance to send on more of that love and support now. And know that we love you, and John loves you.”

As soon as the confirmation came out, the fans and well-wishers lined-up on social media to send tributes and good wishes. Fellow musician Keb’ Mo’ even dedicated a performance to Prine on Facebook and joined everyone in praying for his speedy recovery. The caption on his Facebook post read, “We are going through a time that reminds us not to take anything for granted. We tell people we love them. This one today goes out to @JohnPrineMusic as we pray for his healing. -KMo #MoAtHome” (sic)

The Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter has survived two cancer surgeries. In the late 1990s, he had surgery to remove cancer from his neck after which his voice changed to a deepened tone. In 2013, he again underwent surgery to remove cancer from his left lung.

Wishing for his speedy recovery!
