Gautam Buddh Nagar DM Applies For ‘Leave’ After UP CM Pulls Him Publicly Over ‘Lapses’ in COVID-19 Management | Earth Indian

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reprimanded BN Singh, district magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar over lapses related to coronavirus pandemic. Notably, Gautam Buddh Nagar district, of which Noida is a part, has the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

A video clip of a review meeting between Adityanath and the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration doing rounds on the social media wherein the UP CM can be seen shouting at the officials. “Bakwaas bandh karo apna (stop this nonsense),” the Chief Minister screamed at Singh and asserted that the current situation was a result of lax imposition of the lockdown in the district.

Soon,  the district magistrate’s purported leave application went viral on the social media. In the letter the district magistrate has applied for three-month earned leave on personal grounds and expressed his wish not to continue in the coveted post.

In his leave application, Singh urged the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary for the appointment of another officer in his place so that there was no effect on the ongoing efforts to contain the coronavirus spread in the district.

Reports claimed that the CM Yogi has now instituted an inquiry against Singh before any action is taken against him.

Meanwhile, Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj has been appointed as the district magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar. Yathiraj is presently posted as Special Secretary in the planning department in Lucknow.
