Amidst coronavirus pandemic, we can’t stress enough on washing your hand. It is the need of the hour. Frequently cleaning your hands and maintaining good hygiene are the measures suggested by the World Health Organisation to prevent yourself from getting coronavirus infection. Doctors recommend washing your hands for a good 20 seconds with either soap or by using hand sanitiser with at least 70 per cent of alcohol. Both of these ingredients can make your skin dry and you may attract other skin infections if not lock the moisture in.
To avoid getting dry hands and keeping them softer, here are some natural ingredients you can opt for:
Coconut oil
According to a research published in the National Library of Medicine, coconut oil contains emollient properties that help in improving skin condition. It hydrates your skin by increasing levels of lipid on the skin surface. For better effects, you just need to topically apply the coconut oil on your hands. Apply this twice a day.
Oatmeal
Using oatmeal can moisturise your skin and keep it soft. It works by improving skin barriers. To use it, you need to mix a tablespoon of powdered oatmeal and half tablespoon of coconut oil. Now, you apply this mixture on your hand topically. Leave it for around 15 minutes and then rinse off.
Egg yolks
Do you know that egg yolks are used in preparing various skin conditioning agents? Yes, you read it right. Egg yolks contain an emollient called lecithin, that can moisturise your skin and make it soft. You just need to whisk and apply the yolk to your hands and leave it for 15 minutes. After that, you can wash your hands with mild soap.
