Proud Outsider From Chandivali Studios: Hina Khan Retorts Gracefully to Remark on Her Presence at Cannes 2019 | Earth Indian

After facing immense support from her industry colleagues and the fans, actor Hina Khan made an explosive tweet on the distasteful statement made by the editor of a popular film magazine about her presence at Cannes 2019. In her tweet, the actor mentioned that she is proud of where she has come from and where she is going. She said she is never going to feel bogged down by the elitist stance of people who think Cannes is too-good-to-have-her at the red carpet.

Hina’s tweet read, “I was persistent, I m constant n I will b efficient again n again again. Don’t know where I belong, don’t know if I have to, as d Place don’t define me! Bcause as always I will work my a** off n I will make my own PLACE. My promise,a proud outsider from my Chandiwali studios. 🙏” (sic)

Hina, who was seen playing the role of Komolika on the Star Plus popular show Kasautii Zindagii Kay, was at the prestigious film festival for the premiere of her upcoming Hindi short film Lines in which she is playing the character of a Kashmiri girl. The film also features veteran actor Farida Jalal in an important role.

Hina Khan’s debut appearance at the red carpet of Cannes 2019 made heads turn and also resulted in a Twitter top trend. Her fans went crazy after her stunning look at the event and how Hina actually represented many actors who came from no film background and reached to such heights in the industry. Amid all the frenzy, the editor of a popular movie magazine took to social media and posted a picture of Hina with the caption, “Cannes has suddenly become Chandivali studios kya?” (sic)

First Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel called out the post on social and then Hina’s actor friends Arjun Bijlani, Karanvir Bohra, Nia Sharma, Ekta Kapoor and Farah Khan among others openly lent their support to Hina. Here are a few tweets:

Later, the editor made another post in which he clarified that his previous post was taken out of context because all he wanted to highlight was the great presence of Bollywood at the international film festival. He released an official statement on social media and wrote, “My apologies to Hina Khan. My Instaa caption has been grossly misconstrued. I would never ever belittle an artiste. Those who know me well enough will agree that I’m inclusive and always appreciate of talent. My remark was meant to suggest that Cannes has become Bollywood centric. Studios like Chandivali etc are the very studios that I’ve spent my time as a rookie reporter. I would never run down my wonder years spent in these studios. My sincere apologies to Hina again. I wish you continued success.” (sic)

Earlier, after uproar on his previous post, he deleted the controversial picture. You go, Hina!
